Greetings Sledders,
I’d like to start by going way back to last Thursday. I groomed the Lovells trail and I had a frequent visitor here at Fay’s ride along for the 5 hour trip. A gentleman by the name of Maurice. He was here the week before and expressed a desire to see exactly what it is that we do in our big green tractors. He called on Wednesday and said he was headed to the U.P. and would I be grooming on Thursday which it turned out I was. During the trip he asked me to guess his age and I admitted that I didn’t have a clue. Turns out he is 88 and going strong. Rides in the Grayling area quite often and enjoys a couple group rides in the upper every winter. Hope you enjoyed the ride Maurice.
Apparently our grooming efforts over the weekend were a success as we received many positive comments from the riders that we talked to here at the motel. The groomers had a heavy schedule and they all did the best that they could to try and keep up with the very heavy traffic.
Right now the trails are in overall good shape. I groomed trail #7 South of M-72 today and the snow has slowly built up to the point that that segment is no longer thin and the ice has been buried on all of it except for the inside of a few corners. I was pulling a full drag and working the blade going uphill and not breaking traction.
We are pushing and pulling good snow on the rest of the system and we are expecting 3 or 4″ tonight.
Beware of the warm up coming this weekend. Impact unknown at this time.
Gotta Go
Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Kids
