Greetings Outdoor Enthusiasts,
Well it was cold. That’s about all one can say about the months of January and February 2018. They were just an extended cold snap.
It’s time to wrap this up for another season and as I type this I’ve come to understand that downstate is supposed to get yet another round of our snow. I’ve been careful over the years to keep this a family read, but this latest weather report has put me over the top and I have to tell all of you downstaters that this is a crock of doo-doo. There I’ve said it and I have no desire or compulsion to apologize. I understand that you have no control over the weather but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s doo-doo plain and simple.
I almost hate to admit this but an unintended by product of all this downtime is the fact that I’ve become very proficient at the 5 o’clock power nap. So adept have I become that I need to be cognizant of what I’m doing at around 4:45, no climbing, driving, power tools and so on because when the clock strikes five the lids slam shut. Horrible habit.
I will do my best to rid myself of this 15-20 minute reboot in order to be in tip top shape for grooming next year just in case we get a little snow here in northern MI where it belongs. Snow here would also lead me away from the type of ranting and vulgarity that you had to experience earlier in this report.
Hope to see you on the trails next season, I’ll be the guy grooming the runs that get back by 4:00.
Have a great off-season everyone,
Keith, Sandy and The Girls of Fay’s Motel Grayling MI
